For Patrick Hoffmann (GSM), standing with Myanmar is deeply connected to his own family history.
Growing up with the stories of his Jewish family surviving Nazi Germany and the Holocaust, he learned that democracy is fragile and that the consequences of silence can be devastating. These experiences shaped his belief that “Never Again” is not only a lesson from history, but a responsibility for the present.
Reflecting on Myanmar’s struggle for democracy, Patrick reminds us:
“Democracy is worth fighting for. We cannot take it for granted.”
