Call for donations for the civilian victims of the devastating earthquake in Myanmar

On 28 March 2025, Myanmar was struck by a major earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 (source: USGS). The effects were catastrophic - comparable to the devastating quake in Turkey and Syria in 2023. Thousands of people were affected and many buildings, homes and places of worship collapsed. According to the Süddeutsche Zeitung, the number of dead has risen to more than 1000 and more than 2370 are injured. The actual number of people who died could be higher.

The situation is particularly dramatic in central Myanmar, especially in the Sagaing region, an epicentre of the quake. This region is already suffering massively from the effects of the ongoing civil war. The affected civilian population urgently needs help now!
